Aurora Pride Festival to Kick Off Pride Month at Aurora Town Square
Live Music, Community Displays and Celebration on May 31
The Town of Aurora, in collaboration with York Pride and the Aurora Community Band, is proud to present the first annual Aurora Pride Festival on Saturday, May 31 at Aurora Town Square. This vibrant, inclusive event will take place throughout Aurora Town Square and aims to unite the community in celebration of love, acceptance, and solidarity with the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
“We are excited to welcome residents and visitors to Aurora’s first Pride Festival,” said Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas. “Town Square was created to be a place where everyone feels they belong—and this festival is a powerful step forward in fostering connection, visibility, and celebration in the heart of our community.”
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with free Opening Ceremonies in the Outdoor Square, featuring remarks from local leaders and special guests, followed by engaging interactive displays from York Pride and local community organizations.
At 8 p.m., audiences are invited into the Davide De Simone Performance Hall for Pride-inspired performances by the Borealis Big Band and the Aurora Community Band. These two ensembles will bring colour and joy to the stage with music that uplifts, empowers, and celebrates Pride. Tickets for the concert are $20.00 and can be purchased online.
This event marks the beginning of Pride Month in Aurora and signals the Town’s continued commitment to inclusivity, visibility, and celebration of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
